Scaffolding has been erected at Wellington’s central railway station as part of the next stage of the rail upgrade.
Platforms one and two are affected first while the roof is being replaced. But people can still use the platforms.
Lead-based paint was found on the platform surface and roof during the preparation work so remedial work has been carried out and plastic surrounding has been put around the scaffolding just in case.
Work is being done at night to re-finish the edges of all the platforms and new asphalt will be laid later in the year.
