By mid-year, New Lynn’s landscape was being dominated by big cranes as work on the major transport centre and associated work was in full swing:

The New Lynn rail trench continued to intrigue:

Work between Boston Rd and Newmarket started to resemble an interesting jigsaw puzzle:

Level crossing upgrade work was being done across the region as part of the step towards electrification, such as here at Clark St:

Morningside commuters found their station looking like a bomb wreck as it continued its total revamp:

Trains returned to Helensville- but will end this week, for a number of reasons including patronage:

Kingsland got a dry (but went and windy night) run for the RWC with hordes of rugby fans opting to use the trains for the winter’s big games. Trains couldn’t cope for one game and announcements were made at the park not to try to go home by train. The night below showed Kingsland needed at least bigger platforms and exit ways to cope:

The news was good too for Wellington where its aging network will get new trains and  much needed suburban station revamps.
