True a weed's better than no plant but why go for uncompetitive and unecological, inequitable, jerky, vandal affected, unaffordable rail when you can do better using Waverail? As it is a loan to KiwiRail, will it have to carry the costs of maintaining the loan? If it does, will that mean Auckland rail commuters and the region will have to pay more, rather than ARTA (or ATA) or KiwiRail owning the rolling stock outright? Devil will be in the detail.
