I've been on the Overlander from Hamilton to Britimart and it carried out the trip in 1 hr 40 min to make up for lost time (1 stop at Middlemore)! We were late because of all the work sites between Palmy and Hamiltron. I was shocked! It's pretty clear there's a lot of fat in the timetable! I think better trains could do just as well. Why hasn't Government funded the Auckland -Hamilton service? I think we need to ask why Environment Waikato and Hamilton City haven't made a request and organised it through Land Transport like everywhere else in NZ. I don't see Government going over the local council's heads to get the job done. I disagree. At the moment, the Overlander takes 2 hours and 25 minutes to get from Auckland to Hamilton...
