Great to see the CBT stepping up the fight once again for the stalled Waikato -Auckland rail link.
For now it seems as if local National MP David Bennett has won his argument that pouring money into the road expressway between Hamilton and Auckland is all that is needed – because there has been an unhealthy cone of silence for weeks about the plan to use the Silver Fern railcars to provide a daily rail link.
The group wants to get everyone in the room to thrash it out on December 1 – MPs, city councillors, Environment Waikato councillors (the regional council) and Kiwirail – and the public whose support is strong and needed to be put on public display for the interested groups present.
ARC chairman Mike Lee will be asked to go down to speak.
This seems the only way to make progress as the end of the year is approaching and it’s unbelievable that so much time has passed and not a word of news.

No video conference to Auckland? That’s inexcusable. Hamilton City Council is very, very well connected, and right into their building. I should know, I helped install some of the first kit that ever attached to that network.
