Infratil Still Lobbying Hard Over Integrated Ticketing Decision

They just won’t go away.

The decision has been made to go with Thales, ARTA’s choice, for an integrated ticket for public transport to be rolled out throughout the whole country.

That’s the overseas company Infratil’s Snapper CEO publicly labels Thailes “the French armaments company,” which makes it sound part of some axis of evil.

It’s actually a company to be doing amazingly complex integrated ticketing jobs around the world – as shown in the videos of the amazing recent job in Dubai with the modern Dubai Metro system.

After months of waiting for officials to sign off on ARTA’s chosen pathway to ticketing, and us finally getting the good news, it would have been too much to expect Snapper to lie down and accept it.

Take a read of their latest successful lobbying around influential people.

No doubt, they’ve also been busy knocking on Beehive doors this week.

In some ways you have to feel sorry for the Snapper subsidary of Infratil. If NZ Bus were not getting so offside with ARTA over the drivers contract dispute they may have had more of a chance..

If Snapper was not a part of Infratil then I would not have much of a problem with them, except a mild annoyance that they just can’t let things go.

lHowever, Infratil has really done nothing good for Auckland’s public transport system. They are trying to kill off the PublicTransport Management Act, look at the mess they made with the bus lockout, and now this.

And as far i know the Thales system could go in taxis and be used for small purchases it just a matter of buying readers that work with it and connecting it up to ARTA’s IT system

Feel sorry for Snapper..? When I’m deep in the cold. cold ground…
