A nice bit of history.

Reader Steve went to the Dunedin/Middlemarch Train Festival celebrations at Labour weekend and captured the Ab steam train leaving picturesque Hindon Station in the Taeiri Gorge but “found to my surprise that the banking Dj wanted the limelight. This vintage diesel loco was built in Japan and that motor you hear is a Caterpillar.” (You can watch it in HD)

Thanks Steve! Must have been a great weekend. His youtube channel is here

One Response to “Dunedin’s Old Steam Train In Action (Video)”

  1. Thanks Jon, Labour weekend just gone was a lot of fun. I flew into Christchurch and caught a “Mainline Steam” steam train to Dunedin. (There’s no scheduled passenger trains between the 2 cities believe it or not).
I’m hoping to post a compilation of video shot on the weekend, in “produced” form, soon.
