On Day 34….

tues escOn Day 34, a technician finally arrived at Britomart.tues stare

The escalator has been out for operation, by my calendar, for 34 days but had a sign saying it was closed for maintenance. But there was never any sign of any maintenance happening for all 33 days.

Despite the recession, it obviously takes a while for a technician to be available.

Or maybe he had to come from China where the escalator may have been made.

Anyway, he has come , just the one bloke it seems , and scratched his head but hopefully will work it out.

He erected barricades, which gave the appearance some work was about to start, and they soon attracted spectators who peered over to them to check what was happening.

To be honest, not a lot.

It was out when Britomart was heavily congested with people during the bus stoppege.

Hopefully it won’t take another 34 days to  finish repairing because after today’s bus drivers vote, we may be in for another lockout or stoppage.

By the end of the afternoon, the escalator or part of it seemed to have been rolled up as if about to be taken away or refitted.

Not sure what that means.  I’m not an escalator expert or I would have offered to step in and fix it earlier. And obviously experts are hard to find.

Now imagine them trying to fix a rail network!

Well, they’re about to have a good number more escalators, they better work out how to fix them.
