Newmarket’s flash new station is now a month away from completion and the adjacent bridge will be finished then as well. It opens mid-January.

The roof is complete and the interior of the station building is progressing quickly, according to Project Dart. The escalators and lift shafts are complete as is the canopy on the western platform.

Finishing works are underway on the eastern platform and that work will clear the way for a third track through Newmarket Junction to be laid at Christmas.

The replacement of the Khyber Pass and Park Rd rail overbridges are making progress this weekend, making way for the double-tracking beneath.

The third and final phases of the Khyber Pass Rd bridge reconstruction is underway with traffic now moving on three lanes of the completed two-thirds of the bridge.

Project Dart says the reconstruction of the bridge is scheduled to be completed in March.

    Nice.

  2. Clark says:

When you look at the space under the tunnel it looks like three tracks could fit alongside each other. Is this a bit of future proofing, or just a space for a vehicle service way (road)?

  3. Marwan says:

Nah that space is the new train station platform, its quite wide. Notice the wooden panels on the Khyber pass bridge? That will form the top of the stairs for the new Grafton Station. The station will run from Khyber pass road to Park road and slightly beyond to the retaining wall at 180m long.
