Auckland Bus Dispute Latest: Tuesday’s Not Looking Good Either

ritchsign 029There now seems almost no hope of Auckland buses affected by the industrial dispute running at all on Monday.

And the bus operator, NZ Bus, tonight indicated that the only way bus services will resume on Tuesday would be if the combined unions cancelled their threat of working to rule –by 10am Monday.

Because of the hundreds of school students affected as their school buses won’t run, unions on Friday night offered to run them.

Tonight, NZ Bus’s general manager of operators, Zane Fulljames  was dismissive of the union’s offer.

“If the unions  are genuine, they can lift the notice of strike action before 10am Monday and we will work around the clock with them to have all of our services inclusive of school services resumed on Tuesday.” “ If the unions are genuine around settling this dispute….lift the notice of strike action…. and Auckland can return to normal Tuesday morning.

“The Unions’ offer to run school bus services next week while their notice of strike action still stands is at best misguided and is at worst mischievous.”

Facilitation. which began on Friday, continued over the weekend and resumes tomorrow.
